Uganda Highlights

Day 1 -  Departure home - Arrival Kampala
After you arrival on the airport of Entebbe we will transfer you to our hotel in the centre of Kampala.

Day 2 - Kampala - Lake Mburo
Today we will make a slow startup. First we will leave the busy city of Kampala. Driving out of town is definitely an experience. Keep a close eye on each other as much as possible. This ride is mainly on a highway and there are always traffic jams in Kampala. After around 80 kilometers we will cross the equator. Here you can experience on which side of the earth the water turns left or right. You drive further to the south. Lake Mburo is a small national park surrounding the lake. You will find small groups of zebras, buffaloes and giraffes. Optionally, you can join a night safari here with a professional ranger to spot animals that are not or hardly active during the day, such as bush babies, hyenas and leopards.

Day 3 - Lake Mburo - Lake Bunyonyi
Today we start driving a beautiful off-road route towards Mbarara. From Mbarara to Kabale we follow the highway.  Then it is a short off-road drive to the parking lot. The motorbikes remain on the bank. We take a hollow log as a canoe to our accommodation, simple safari tents, on an idyllic island in the crater Lake Bunyonyi. That means 'place of the little birds'. Here we enjoy the natural beauty and the spectacular views of the volcanoes.

Day 4 - Lake Bunyonyi - Mutanda
In the morning we take the boat back to the mainland and to get back on the motorcycle. We drive through the mountain areas of southern Uganda. From a distance you may spot the volcano tops of the volcanoes from the National Park along the border with Rwanda. From Kisoro along lake Mutanda to the north there is a dirt road with volcanic lava as a substrate. We will stay two nights in this resort.  We have a fabulous view on the lake.

Day 5 - Mutanda Lake view - stay
Mutanda is the perfect location to visit Bwindi National park and to trek Gorilla's. If you don't join this optional tour, you can use this day to enjoy the view, take a boat trip across the lake or drive around the neighborhood for a few hours. It is a special place to explore.

Day 6 - Mutanda Lake view - Nyanzibiri
Today we will drive a scenic route through the mountains, the road is largely unpaved. We enjoy magnificent views and we will encounter mountain people. We will only return to the lowlands just before Park Elizabeth. We will spend the night at the edge of the large park, which lies along border with Congo. We might encounter wildlife along the road as well. Nyanzibiri means twin lake, because these are 2 crater lakes between which a road runs.

Day 7 - Nyanzibiri - Lake Nkuruba
Today you can join a cultural walk in the morning with Dave (owner of the lodge). He is passionate about his environment. Next we drive to Fort Portal. We follow the road along the border of Congo. It is 60% paved and 40% unpaved. On the west side of the road are the mountains of Ruwenzori, Mount Baker is 4843 meters high. About halfway the landscape becomes hilly again.

Day 8 - Lake Nkuruba - Kampala
After early moning breakfast you can make a walk to the Chimpanzees. A local ranger will take you. This is a small park that has the great advantage that you do not have to search for a long time to encounter Chimpanzees. After this fabulous experience we will drive back to Kampala. It is going to be a long drive!

Day 9 - Kampala - Departure
On our last day you can visit the capital. We will arrange a transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
