Madagascar Baobab

What customers told us:

"This motorbike trip was fantastic. A really, huge adventure for me. Unfortunately i fell on day 10 and hurt my foot. Falls is part of driving in this type of terrain, so I guess it is only a matter of luck/unluck whether you hurt yourself. I think all of us fell one/two - many times. Unfortunately, I was the unlucky one this time.  Two days later I had a chest infection and I was sick with food poisoning soI was unable to drive the bike for the rest of the trip. However, although I only drove half the trip on bike I must say that the trip fulfilled all my expectations and quite a bit more. I think the schedule with the rest days was important for all the drivers. The technicality of some of the legs (the non-tarmac legs) were demanding, but not heavier than we could manage. Maybe, we could have had a little better hotels on a couple of occasions (I think there were some) but all in all the overnight stays were very good. Tourleader Frank was the best!  He knows the country, the roads, what to expect, the culture, is a natural leader and authority in all ways etc etc. His guiding and tourleading was more than we could expect. The rest of the (support) -team with cardrivers and helpers were fantastic. They did all they could to keep the trip going. Many, many thanks to those guys; Leonard, Ali, Damien and Jean."

"I enjoyed myself, liked the variety of driving, the climate and the people. Expectations, yes pretty much as expectes. I expect to be surprised, to experience something new from previous trips and I did. I also expect the trip to be well planned and it was in my view. Highlights, difficult to say since there are so many impressions to digest in such a short period. Frank the tourleader is doing a fantastic job, the support team was great as well. Improvements, I think you have done an important one already in implementing the rest days. We were only 4 drivers completing all the stages, and it seems the sandy bits freaks out most. Perhaps some gentle introduction to this, with some practise runs to give people the confindance. Thank you very much!"

"This was a super trip for the motorcyclists, for some a bit too tough, however this was known in advance, maybe a bit monotonous for the 4x4 passengers. I suggest as point of improvement that Frank our tourleader apparently had no plan B if something would go wrong. He should have had a GPS device to find the right way, personally the penultimate ride was the highlight, but for some it was too tough, and besides my point of improvment that I mentioned earlier, Frank was definitely a FANTASTIC companion, and contact with the office was excellent."

"Our car and motorcycle trip through Madagascar was memorable, poignant, intense (for motorcycling the trip was too long ) Improvement: programming shorter routes, because then you have better contact with the rest of the group and you avoid wrong driving of our support car (this can also be avoided by using GPS). The highlight was Morondava, 3 days' rest between the fishing boats. Our tour guide Frank did a great job. Only the last ride to Manja, for many in the group this trip was too long and too difficult, fortunately everything went well but there was no plan b for emergencies . For Frank nothing but praise. My advice is plan shorter trips and use less dirt roads. My wife who joined in a 4x4 is also very happy, contact with the office was fine."

"It was a nice trip, Madagascar was less green than expected, this was due to the dry period, but even worse, due to the deforestation, the trip went well, the hotels were good. The food was very tasty. The asphalt roads were good, sometimes with holes. The days off-road were tough, but they have been the best driving days for us. You see  a lot this way of the country. The people are more reserved, but friendly, the parks are beautiful, it is also fun to see the different lemurs in the parks. The motorbike was good, except for a puncture a couple of times, we did not have any problems with the motorbike,  contact with the guide and driver were good, especially the driver told us a lot about Madagascar, and the trip was worth it for us precisely because the country is working on deforestation on a large scale (if you dig deeper into the land and speak with the people, we  understand the point of view of the locals a lot better now) this gave us a bit of awareness with what happens in the world. A fantastc trip. The last day was tough, this is due to the long distance, but also because in the morning a trip through the rainforest . This is a pity, the rainforest is definitely worth a little bit longer. It would be good to plan a day  off,  to have time to visit the rainforest more extensively.  Highlights were the off-road driving days. A big challenge, but a nice ride!  And also the nature parks were a highlight, Tsingypark, Isalo and Ranomafana, as well the lemur park and nature park Anja with the colony with Ringtail maki's. We have done this trip as couple of 2. With a private guide in a support car and guide / mechanic on the bike. Both were very friendly. The guide / mechanic on the bike was not really necessary, a GPS was also good. The driver of the support car knew a lot about the country. He also took the time to discuss the planning with us. There was good contact with the office. We quickly received answers to our questions, also during the trip. "

"This pilot trip was beautiful, alternating routes in a special country.  As tip I would add in your information that the route is through different types of landscape and there is little culture and not a lot of history either, it is almost impossible to withdraw money with a bank card. Only one bank with 6 offices (of which 4 in Tana), the off-road days / route were very heavy especially if you have little experience.  And good to know that at Tana airport it is not allowed to put your helmet in to carry the hand luggage."
