Madagascar Baobab

MOTORBIKES
During this trip, you will ride on a Honda XR 250cc. There is a limited option to upgrade to 400CC.

DIFFICULTY AND OFFROAD
You will encounter neither high altitudes nor extreme weather conditions on this trip. Some off-road parts are somewhat challenging, however, the distances are not very long. There are four difficult off-road stages in this tripin the southeast of the country. The difficulty of these days  will depend on the weather. When the weather has been very dry, the ground can consist of loose sand in some parts, whichcauses a very difficult ride. In wet weather, this will change to a soft, slippery surface (mud). This is only the case on parts of the trails and not over the entire stretch.

ACCOMMODATION
In larger towns (and there aren’t many of them) the accommodation is good. In  smaller villages, even the best hotels are basic and can leave a fair bit to be desired. You’ll need to be prepared for this.

CLIMATE
The rainy season in Madagascar occurs mainly from December through February. June to September are dry and hot months. Best months for travel are October - November and April - May.

CLOTHING
Mandatory items of clothing include a helmet, protective motorcycle jacket, gloves, a good strong pair of protective motorcycle trousers or trousers with loose knee armour/protectors and sturdy high (mountain) boots. We also recommend a breeze-through summer motorcycle jacket with protection and a good pair of sunglasses and a helmet with a visor to protect against dust and gravel. The tours will be carried out during the dry season, but you’ll need to take into account the occasional shower, especially during the spring season.
