Motorcycles
During the tour of Europe you drive your own motorcycle. In principle, any motorcycle is suitable for this trip. In addition to a major service in advance, it is important that you leave with - almost - new tires. In some of these countries, motorcyclists are also required to bring a first-aid kit, spare bulbs and reflective safety vest (also for passenger). We also recommend that you bring a tire repair kit.

Difficulty of the journey
This is not a too difficult journey. Mountain stages do not occur. In principle we only drive on asphalt roads, but the routes have not been checked on the spot. Especially in Belarus you have to take into account somewhat worse roads. There is a risk of aquaplaning during heavy rainfall. In addition, you have to take into account slow traffic and fellow road users who are not so careful with traffic rules. Driving in the dark is not recommended by us. We avoid busy arteries and tour on local roads as much as possible. The cities hardly cause any problems, only in Minsk traffic is busy and chaotic. The stage distances vary from 200 to 350 km, excluding the outward and return journey. The total distance is over 3000 km, including the outward and return journey.

Overnight stays
During this trip we make use of a variety of middle class accommodation options, varying from small family guesthouses to a single large-scale tourist hotel. The accommodation is based on a double room with private bathroom throughout. A single room is on request and only where possible. At most locations, the motorcycles can be parked on private grounds, whether or not closed, or sometimes in a garage. At the other locations, parking is possible along the sidewalk in front of the hotel.

Ferry
During this trip we use a ferry crossing from Klaipeda to Kiel in Germany, which is included in the fare. On board the ferry you have a cabin at your disposal during the crossing. This is divided on the basis of four people.

Climate
The countries around the Baltic Sea hardly experience any extreme weather conditions. Spring and early fall can be fickle and summers are usually pleasantly warm. However, sudden violent thunderstorms in the summer can provide a wet surprise, with the risk of aquaplaning. Only Belarus has a moderate continental climate, also without extremes.

Clothing
Mandatory is a helmet, motorcycle jacket with protection, gloves, good sturdy motorcycle pants with protection and sturdy high (mountain) shoes. In addition to well-ventilated motorcycle clothing for high temperatures, waterproof motorcycle clothing or rain gear is also recommended.

Passport, visa and driver's license
A passport is required and must be valid for at least 3 months after departure from Belarus. A visa is required for Belarus (Short term Visa, type C). You can have this arranged by Motor Trails (not included). A form must be completed at the border for the temporary import of your motorcycle. If the motorcycle is not registered in its own name, for example a lease motorcycle or 'company motorcycle', have the owner draw up and sign an authorization, preferably in several languages. The authorization must be legalized by an official body. For more information you can contact us.

Insurance
Check your Green Card if it is recognized in Belarus or contact your insurer. Most insurance policies provide coverage in Belarus. If you do not have coverage for or Belarus, you can take out separate third-party insurance. For more information you can contact us.
