Belarus Express

This very short motortour takes us across the countryside of Northern Poland and through the Masurian Lake District to the independent Republic of Belarus or Belarus. Belarus is an independent communist dictatorship, but economically very dependent on mother Russia. The country is the best boy in the Russian class, but Minsk in particular is also secretly looking more often to the west. The landscape of Belarus is generally flat with many wetlands.

The Lithuanian capital of Vilnius is a pleasant mix of the cozy old medieval town (UNESCO) and the prosperous stately city with its government buildings and modern shopping streets. From the only port city in Lithuania we sail back to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
