Iran Highlights

MOTORBIKES 
During this trip you ride on an Iranian Kavir 248cc motorcycle. This is a local off-road model. 

DIFFICULTY AND OFFROAD 
Basically, it’s not a difficult trip. There are no complicated off road routes. Often there will be unpaved roads but not extremely difficult ones. Altitude is not really applicable either.We will drive through mountain areas but will not reach a distinctive altitude. However, the climate could cause some difficulty because it’s hot and dry almost all year round.  

ACCOMMODATION 
The accommodations will be in local hotels. Generally, these are good hotels, and your stay is in a double room with breakfast included. One night we will stay in a tented camp whereyou will sleep in a comfortable two person nomad tent. 

CLIMATE 
Iran can be hot in the lowland area and the southern part of the county, especially in summer. However,  in the mountains it can be surprisingly cold, even in the summer months. So be prepared to have warm clothing with you.  

CLOTHING 
Please note you need to pack winter gear as it can be very cold in the mountains! In the lowland is can be very hot. Standard gear should have protection on knies, shoulders and elbows. Helmet and gloves are mandatory.  

INSURANCE 
The Iranian motorcycles have a mandatory Iranian liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. You cannot get an insurance for damage of the motorcycle in Iran. So in case this happens, you are liable yourself for the costs. 

VISA 
You must arrange your visa before going to Iran. For the visa, you need an invitation letter. The costs of the visa are not included in the travel sum, but the invitation letter is. You can always contact us if you need help or have questions. 

RULES 
Iran is a strict country, and you need a permit for almost everything. You will get to know the bureaucratic machine. Therefore, on every tour there is a chance we cannot ride the full trip that we have mapped out. The complete route and roads need to be discussed with the ministry before departure. Then shortly before departure, we will get permission or not. 

GUIDANCE 
A local guide is mandatory in Iran. He will follow us in the support car. Additionally, there will be a local driver and mechanic in the car. Our tour guide will be riding a motorcycle. The local guide regularly has to discuss with the police, show all our permits and explain our motorcycle trip at the checkpoints. It’s a new  phenomenon in Iran seeing a group of foreigners on local motorcycles; no one there has seen a group like this before.
